Baked Eggs with Cheese/Eingebackene Eier mit Käse
This is a simple dish for a light supper or easy brunch.

Ingredients

        Butter or lowfat vegetable spray

        6 slices white bread enough thin-sliced Swiss cheese to cover bread

        6 eggs

        6 tbsp. regular or fat-free half-andhalf

        Salt and pepper.

*For a single serving, grease a single ramekin. Arrange in it one slice bread and one egg with sliced cheese and half-and-half in order given. Bake as directed above.

Instructions

Step 1:
Heat oven to 375°F.

Step 2:
Butter or spray a rectangular baking dish. Cover bottom with bread, placing slices side by side in a single layer.

Step 3:
Arrange sliced Swiss cheese atop bread, covering it completely.

Step 4:
Break eggs, centering one egg over each slice of bread. Spoon about 1 tbsp. half-and-half over yolk of each egg. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Step 5:
Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until eggs are done as desired.
