Caramel apple crumble
Caramel apple crumble

A family favourite for winter that’s ready in no time.
Ingredients
Takes 30 minutes • Serves 4
– 8 eating apples, peeled, cored and cubed.
– 6 tbsp caramel cream (from a can or squeezy tube).
– 50g/2oz plain flour.
– 50g/2oz porridge oats.
– 50g/2oz cold butter, diced.
Instructions
Step 1:Preheat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas 7. Put the apples into a pan with a splash of water, cover, then cook over a high heat for 4–5 minutes, stirring now and then until just soft. Stir in three tablespoons of the caramel, then tip the mixture into small ovenproof dishes. Reserve a tablespoon of caramel, then dot the rest in small spoonfuls over the apples.
Step 2:Mix together the flour and oats, then rub in the butter with your fingers until you have a crumbly mixture. Stir in the remaining caramel, then scatter this over the apples. Bake for 15 minutes until golden and crisp on top.
